Reception Signposting
Reception will be following a new signposting process which has been designed by the GP's. All receptionists have been trained to use this so will all be following the guidelines provided in the new signposting process.
To enable you to see what sort of things you are likely to be asked as a result of this new system we have attached a copy of the new process. You will be able to see this if you click on 'Appointments' above and then click 'Reception Signposting'
It is hoped that by sharing this with you all, you will have a better understanding of how the GP's work and the things they have asked the reception staff to ask.
LOCAL INFORMATION
We have some new local information on the website for patients to access. If you go to the 'services' tab and look for the tab which says 'local information' you will see information from the local area.
We are proud to announce that have been awarded the Nottinghamshire Carers Association Quality Mark in recognition of all the work we do to support our unpaid carers.
If you are a carer, and we don't already know this information, please let reception know. You can then be added to the carers register & put in contact with the practice carers champions and offered any support you may need.

Verbal abuse and rudeness
Sadly, we have seen an increase in the number of patients subjecting our staff to verbal abuse and rudeness. This is not acceptable.
We would draw your attention the below zero tolerance policy.
Dignity at work & Zero Tolerance
The Practice takes it very seriously if a member of staff or one of the doctors or nursing team is treated in an abusive or violent way. Our staff come to work to care for others, and it is important for all our staff to be treated with respect.
The Practice supports the government's 'Zero Tolerance' campaign for Health Service Staff. This states that GPs and their staff have a right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. To successfully provide these services a mutual respect between all the staff and patients has to be in place. All our staff aim to be polite, helpful, and sensitive to all patients’ individual needs and circumstances. They would respectfully remind patients that very often staff could be confronted with a multitude of varying and sometimes difficult tasks and situations, all at the same time. The staff understand that ill patients do not always act in a reasonable manner and will take this into consideration when trying to deal with a misunderstanding or complaint.
However, aggressive behaviour, be it violent or abusive, will not be tolerated and may result in you being removed from the Practice list and, in extreme cases, the Police being contacted.
In order for the practice to maintain good relations with their patients the practice would like to ask all its patients to read and take note of the occasional types of behaviour that would be found unacceptable:
Using bad language or swearing at practice staff
Any physical violence towards any member of the Primary Health Care Team or other patients, such as pushing or shoving
Verbal abuse towards the staff in any form including verbally insulting the staff
Racial abuse and sexual harassment will not be tolerated within this practice
Persistent or unrealistic demands and rudeness that cause stress to staff will not be accepted.
Causing damage/stealing from the Practice's premises, staff or patients
Obtaining drugs and/or medical services fraudulently
We ask you to treat your GPs and their staff courteously at all times.
NHS APP
If you wish to access your online GP record where you can book appointments (postponed during Covid-19), order your repeat medications, see your coded clinical record, you can download the NHS APP from Google play or your App store.
The NHS APP also shows your Covid-19 vaccination status and, as such may be useful when traveling abroad. To find more information about the NHS APP please click HERE
There is also a YouTube video which gives more information HERE
HELP US TO HELP YOU
Please can we ask that our patients DO NOT telephone surgery for test results or other general enquiries, before 11am.
Our telephone lines are very busy first thing each morning and our reception staff are busy trying to book appointments for patients who require urgent, same day, consultations with the GP's.
We thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
COVID Vaccination Status Requests
From 17 May 2021, people in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can demonstrate their vaccination status for international travel. A full course is currently two doses of any approved vaccine. Vaccine status will be available from:
- the NHS App which you can download from app stores
- the NHS website nhs.uk
- 119 - by requesting a paper letter
You will need to register to use the online services, if you have not already. It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified.
If you cannot access the online services, and you have had both doses of the vaccine, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you are due to travel outside the UK in the near future and have had your second dose more than five working days ago. It may take up to seven working days for the letter to arrive.
This practice is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status. Please do not contact the practice about your COVID-19 vaccination status unless you have been advised to by the 119 service.
When you're planning your travel, you should check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is enough time to get proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status before you are due to travel.
Have you ever stopped and wondered why the Receptionists ask what’s wrong with you when you call to book an appointment?
