ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021
An important part of coming to University is ensuring that you look after yourself and your wellbeing.
Registering at the Medical Centre on campus will give you access to all NHS services to support you during your time in Loughborough studying. The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic makes the access to medical services more important. The Medical Centre together with our NHS partners are promoting registration at the Medical Centre. Detailed below you will find further information on:-

If you do not register at the Medical Centre we may not be able to see you on Campus and you may be directed to other services.
*To ensure you have access to NHS treatment we ask that you submit your patient registration form with us 2 to 3 weeks before arriving in Loughborough.
*If you take regular medication, please bring at least 2 months supply with you from your current GP.
*We will send you a text message to confirm your registration with us. If you have not received a confirmation text within 10 working days of submitting your registration request, please contact us on 01509 277577.

*When registered at the Medical Centre please book a telephone consultation with a clinician to review your medication. Any regular medication you are prescribed will be added to your health records.
*Due to Coronavirus you can access us by telephone. Please call us on 01509 277577 and a telephone appointment will be arranged with a clinician. In order to direct you to the most appropriate clinician we will ask you for a brief description of the problem you need treatment for.
*The pharmacy on campus can advise on any minor ailments and you may be directed to this service, please follow this link for more information https://www.themedicinebox.co.uk/
*IF after the initial telephone consultation a clinician has booked a face to face appointment with you please ensure you attend on time wearing a mask / face covering.
Coronavirus has impacted the services we would usually be able to offer to visitors and during this pandemic we may only be able to consider patients who need immediate and necessary treatment.
As a Medical Centre, confidentiality is of utmost importance to us.
When you turn 18 years old, your parents will no longer be able to access your records or discuss any medical conditions with us without your written consent.
We also advise patients to book and cancel their own appointments to prevent any confidentiality issues and ensure you update your contact details with us throughout your time here.
GDPR is a law that replaced the Data Protection Act 1998.

All patients registered at the Medical Centre have a named doctor who has overall responsibility for your care and support. For the period of registrations August 2020 to August 2021 Dr Gill is your named accountable GP. Follow the link for more information:-
Students aged between 17-24yrs and starting university are strongly recommended to have a booster Men ACWY vaccination (which has replaced the Meningitis C) if you didn’t receive one in school. This is because it is now known that your immunity to the disease will have decreased and your risk of catching the disease is higher. The Leicester and Loughborough University Joint Information
We want to ensure that you have access to any necessary treatment if you should ever require it during your time here.
It usually takes 10 working days for you to be registered, however, by sending in your completed form before you arrive at University will help us put you on to our system quicker and most patients will already be registered with the Medical Centre by the time they arrive at University. This ensures continuity of care and also immediate treatment if required.
Please note you will need to ensure your student ID number is on the form as your registration may not be accepted without this.
Students studying at Loughborough College must also have a university ID number to register. If we can not find you on the university student portal, your registration will be declined.
To register, please print off and complete the registration form below. To help you complete the form, please refer to the information sections in the next tab 'New Patient Information'.
