Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage them to improve.

They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what is found, including performance ratings to help people choose care.

Our GP Practice has recently undergone a CQC inspection and the results are now freely available on the CQC Website.  You can access the report below

LATEST NEWS:

The team at Allied Medical Practice (School House & Church Surgery) were visited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on 25th November through to 3rd December 2020.

Following the inspection the CQC have published their inspection report, rating the practice as “Inadequate”.

This report is very disappointing and we apologise for not offering the best level of service and care to our patients. Their primary areas of concern were:

  • Issues with safe care to gaps in safeguarding policy.
  • Concerns around the monitoring of patient medication
  • Systems for processing on significant events were not fully embedded

Their inspection report provides a number of positive observations about the practice, including:

  • The practice providing caring and responsive services

We recognise the areas highlight by the inspection as in need of improving, some have already been addressed since the inspection, and the surgery team is developing a comprehensive action plan to address all of the matters raised by the CQC to improve services and processes for our patients

We are facing the same pressures as being reported by GP practices across the country during Covid, and do believe that taking on more than 2,000 patients when a neighbouring practice closed (Willows in Bevendean) had some impact on the quality of the service we provide to patients. The surgery has professional and enthusiastic teams who work hard to ensure we achieve a high quality, safe and effective service to our patients. Staff continue to work hard and are committed to supporting patients to get the right care and support when they need it.”
