Patient FAQ: Total Triage with Klinik
- What is Total Triage?
Total triage means every patient request is assessed first by a GP. This ensures that you get the most appropriate care for your needs, as quickly as possible
- Why is this change happening?
This change is part of an NHS England decision to modernise primary care. It helps practices manage demand fairly, safely, and efficiently while ensuring urgent cases are prioritised.
- What is Klinik?
Klinik is a secure, easy-to-use online system that allows you to submit your symptoms or healthcare request at any time. It creates a clear summary that is sent directly to our GP team for review
- How does this benefit me as a patient?
- Every request is reviewed by a GP
- Faster response times
- Reduced waiting for appointments
- A fairer system – no need to “rush for the phone at 8am”
- The right care, first time.
- How do I use Klinik?
- Go to our practice website
- Fill in the Klinik form with your symptoms or request
- Submit your request anytime
- You will receive a response from our team promptly
- What if I can’t use the internet?
Don’t worry – you can still call the practice. Our team will complete a Klinik form on your behalf, so your request is still triaged by a GP.
- Will I always see a GP?
Not always. After triage, you may be directed to the most suitable healthcare professional for your needs (such as a nurse, pharmacist, or physiotherapist). This ensures you get the right care quickly.
- Is Klinik secure?
Yes. Klinik uses NHS-approved security standards to protect your personal information and medical details.
- Will urgent cases still be prioritised?
Absolutely. Urgent needs will be identified quickly and dealt with appropriately.
- What if I prefer face-to-face care?
If your GP decides that an in-person appointment is the most appropriate care, this will be arranged for you.
