Additional Needs Children

Seashell Trust Stay & Play

Every Wednesday (term time only) between 10:30am and 2:30pm at Seashell Trust, Stanley Road, Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, SK8 6RQ.

A drop in group for babies and preschool children with complex or special needs and their parents/carers. Families don’t need to have received a formal diagnosis to join.

Stay and Play is a friendly, informal group where you can have fun and support your child’s learning through play.  Each week they hold different activities to support your child’s development in areas like communication, early exploration, movement and independence.  There are plenty of toys, including sensory toys and nice comfy seats for parents! Your child can also try some messy play (without messing up your own home!).

It’s free to attend - register by email at: admissions@seashelltrust.org.uk or call on 0161 610 0741.

The Children & Family Centre

The Children & Family Centre provides play opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment for children with Learning Disabilities and Additional Needs. Through its wide range of groups, play sessions and training courses, children can learn and play, while parents can access a wide range of information and support. The Centre is an informal and relaxed space where children along with their parents and carers get to know each other well.

The Children & Family Centre is unique to the Stockport area with its strong ethos of reverse inclusion. This means that they welcome all children including siblings and friends to the Centre when it is appropriate, but those with additional needs take priority. The groups and support are tailored to the children's individual needs and ensure that the numbers of those attending sessions are kept low. By doing this, they can ensure that they provide more personalised groups and give each child the attention they deserve.

Along with the indoor space which features plenty of toys, games and crafts as well as lots of sensory equipment, the Centre also has a large garden. The outdoor space is fully secure, and there are lots of outdoor toys, games and play equipment available.
