GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATIONS (GDPR)

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) determines how your personal data is processed, kept safe and also advises you of the legal rights you have in relation to your own data. The regulations came into force on 25th May 2018.

These regulations will supersede the Data Protection Act. It is similar to the Data Protection Act (which the practice already complies with) but strengthens many of the DPA’s principles.

The short video and Word document below explains more about GDPR.  Below the video, you will find links which detail how the practice processes your personal data and what GDPR will mean for you.

GDPR - Patient Information

YOUR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN ACCESSING SERVICES AT GROVE

As a patient we would respectfully ask you to be aware of the following:

  1. Patients should attend their appointment for the arranged time. Please let us know as soon as possible if you intend to cancel your appointment, or if you are running late. Consistent failure to attend appointments may result in your removal from the Practice list.
  2. Delays can be reduced by remembering that an appointment is for one person only. A separate appointment should be made when another member of the family needs to be seen.
  3. Patients are responsible for their own health and the health of their children and should co-operate with the Practice in endeavouring to keep them healthy.
  4. Medicines can be dangerous and are often expensive. We expect you to be responsible in looking after your medicines and prescriptions. Any unused medicines should be returned to your pharmacy.
  5. Please inform the surgery in writing of any alterations in your circumstances, such as change of surname, address or telephone number. If you move out with the practice boundary it will be necessary to register with a surgery in your new area.
  6. We expect the surgery staff to treat our patients with courtesy, and therefore expect the patients to treat the staff and doctors with courtesy and respect in return. We will not tolerate verbal or physical abuse towards the staff, and will take appropriate action against those who do. We understand that you may be going through a stressful time but ask you to be as patient as possible as staff try their best to help you. The administration staff are not clinically trained and cannot be expected to deal with clinical questions, however they will try to direct your query as best they can.
