Face coverings in Practice

Mask wearing in primary care in no longer compulsory- so what does this mean for us in practice. If you have a high temp/cough/loss of taste or smell or any other covid symptoms such as - shortness of breath, muscle ache, diarrhoea/vomiting, headaches, common cold symptoms, then unless it is an urgent appointment you maybe be offered an alternative for when your symptoms have subsided. If you are required to be seen urgently you should wear a face covering and you will be asked to sit in our isolation room. Patients with respiratory systems who require treatment should wear a face covering when attending or offered one on arrival.

Community Wellbeing Practice

Newtown Surgery is a Community Wellbeing Practice, which means that it is connected with community support and services that can help patients to stay well throughout life.  Patients also have access to a wide range of free courses, events and one-to-one services in their local community to improve their health and wellbeing.

Help us to STOP bowel cancer

Bowel cancer screening

More than 41,500 men and women are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK. That is the equivalent of someone being diagnosed every 15 minutes.

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK behind breast, lung and prostate cancer.

Nearly 16,000 men and women die of bowel cancer every year in the UK.

Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK, behind lung cancer.

Bowel cancer is very treatable especially if diagnosed at an early stage.

If you receive the screening kit, use it and return it.
