Welcome to Kinson Road Medical Centre

Kinson Road Medical Centre is run by Dr Andrew Brewer, supported by five associate GPs (Dr Philip Doust, Dr Emma McFarland, Dr Jo Shepherd and Dr Neeta Somani, Dr Robert Whitmey) and has approximately 11,000 patients. Our main surgery is at 440 Kinson Road and our branch surgery is in West Howe. We pride ourselves on being a very friendly practice and aim to provide a high standard of medical care to all our patients as well as a range of services to meet their needs.

When you join the practice, you will be registered with a named GP within the practice but you will be able to see any of the doctors, subject to their availability. If you wish to know which doctor you are registered with please just contact reception, this is also usually shown on any letters we send to you. You may attend either surgery. When making an appointment, just let the receptionist know who you would prefer to see and at which surgery. The receptionists will do their best to accommodate your preferences but, if your preferred doctor is away or his/her surgery is full, you will be offered an appointment with one of the other doctors or the triage nurse. We offer a range of appointments including same-day (this may take the form of a telephone consultation with either a GP or triage nurse and save you having to come to surgery) and advance booking.

We will be closing at 15:30 today (08/06/2021) for staff training. We will reopen again Wednesday 9th June at 08:30. Please call 111 during this time or 999 in an emergency.

Thanks – Kinson Road Medical Centre

Vaccine - letter to patients

We have taken the difficult decision to close our doors to public access.  This is based on UK Government advice to support Social Distancing.

Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) patients need to do the following –

  • Only enter the practice if you have been asked to by a clinician and have a Face to Face appointment.  Confirm this with reception and they will grant you access.

  • You may be asked to wait in your vehicle until you are called in.

  • If you need medical advice, please go home and call us on 01202 574 604.

  • We will call you back asap and make a clinical assessment.

  • A clinical member of staff will determine if you need to be seen.

  • Please use online services for prescription requests or post them in the letter box to your left.

  • We are sorry this has happened, but it is to ensure you remain safe as well as our staff.

  • Please stay indoors to protect yourself.

  • We are hoping to launch video conferencing next week – if your GP needs to look at something you will be sent a text message to connect to them via your smartphones.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding and patience.

Patient surveys

Thank you to all our patients who took the time to give us feedback on our practice during July 2019. The results have generally been very positive and have included comments such as:

"I was a life-long patient at Durdells Surgery so was very unsure when changing to a new doctors and new staff. We, as a family have been very impressed with every dr we have seen and have been given a genuinely faultless service. Thank you!"

" I've always had very good service at the practice the staff on the reception desk are always pleasant, very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. I can discuss any problems about my health with my doctor as always. I know I'm in very good hands and I get the very best health care."

" This is by far the best surgery I have ever been registered with. Staff are efficient, caring and knowledgeable. It is also possible to get an appointment when you need one rather than after the problem has gone. It is the first surgery in many years where I feel I have been listened to and given information to make a choice. Thank you "
