Appointments

  • Patients booking a routine appointment will be offered the choice of a face-to-face, telephone or video consultation.

  • Face-to-face appointments are available to all patients where there is a clinical need. You will be asked to first discuss your conditions over the phone or online with a member of the healthcare team to assess what would be most appropriate for you and which practice member would best provide it.

  • Telephone and video consultations can be convenient and flexible ways to receive healthcare. Where patients need to be seen by a health professional face-to-face, this will be arranged. If you have a preference about how to access care you can discuss it with our reception team.

  • The majority of common conditions can be assessed and diagnosed by your doctor by telephone or video consultation. They are experienced and skilled in doing this. Using technology like this will help to protect you, your family and loved ones - and GP practice staff - from the potential risk of the virus.

  • Weekend appointments are often available at one of our Stockport hubs. Our local hubs operate from Bredbury Medical Practice and Marple Cottage Surgery. Please ask our reception team for a weekend appointment. Evening appointments are available at the surgery on Mondays and Tuesdays.

  • If you are asked to attend for an appointment, please remember to put on your face covering before entering the practice – unless you’re exempt. Staff will be wearing masks or visors, or they may be sitting behind a screen.

  • For general (non-urgent) enquiries you can complete a confidential online form here or email the practice on stoccg.archwoodsurgery@nhs.net  You will receive a response as soon as possible, usually within two working days. If you have an urgent medical problem, please ring the practice on 0161 983 5800.

  • When the practice is closed you can call NHS111 or go to 111.nhs.uk for help and advice.

Covid-19 News and Information

COVID-19 Spring Booster Vaccine: The Spring Booster vaccination programme is aimed at people aged 75 years and older, residents in care homes for older people and those aged 12 years and over with a weakened immune system.

At the Practice we are focusing on ensuring our housebound and care home patients are vaccinated safely.

The NHS will contact eligible people to book their next jab. More information is available at http://nhs.uk/covid-booster. NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Stockport Council are working together to create pop up vaccination centres around Stockport. A full list of clinics can be found at www.stockportccg.nhs.uk/news/covid-19-vaccination-options/

COVID-19 Vaccine First, Second, Booster Doses: if you haven’t had a first or second dose or booster yet, it’s not too late! Visit the National Booking Service website or call 119 to book or look for a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site convenient to you

The coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines are safe and effective. They give you the best protection against COVID-19. It is important you have the vaccine, even if you have had COVID-19 or think you have had the virus, because it will make your immune system stronger and reduce the risk of spreading the virus or having COVID-19 symptoms again.

Collecting GP Data - advice for patients

NHS Digital are launching a new way of collecting data from GP practices in order to support the planning of NHS services and for research purposes. Patient data collected from general practice is needed to support a wide variety of research and analysis to help run and improve health and care services. Whilst the data collected in other care settings such as hospitals is valuable in understanding and improving specific services, it is the patient data in general practice that helps the NHS to understand whether the health and care system as a whole is working for patients.

As a practice we are legally required to participate in the sharing of this data. We must also be clear and transparent with our patients about how their data is handled and shared. The collection of GP Data for Planning and Research will now take place from 1 September 2021 rather than 1 July 2021. This will give you time to think about your options and consider whether you wish to opt out of this data sharing.

Everything that you need to know about the new process, including how to opt out can be found on the NHS Digital website

For more information and details of how to opt-out of sharing your data Click here

Patient Consultation

Thank you to all our patients who took the time to complete our recent patient consultation. A number of key themes emerged from your feedback. These themes and our responses to them can be seen here.

Archwood leading the way in Pain Management

Dr Parker and Caroline Austin (our Practice Pharmacist) together with 12 Archwood patients are involved in a ground breaking project to try to reduce the use of morphine-like medication among patients living with pain. The project has won national funding to work with Stockport's Pain Service on this and we hope it will be an important step towards improving pain management for many of our patients.
