             A COVID-19 vaccination helpline, for general information about the coronavirus vaccine and its delivery, is now available from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week on 0800 030 8013

People who have lost or forgotten their username or password will be able to create new ones by selecting 'forgot username' or 'forgot password' options. A Freephone Covid Status Helpline will allow people to get the record posted to them.  It can be contacted on 0808 196 8565.





There is a box on the wall outside the practice which you can access during opening hours. You can use this to leave samples, letters, prescriptions requests etc. This will be checked regularly throughout the day. Please do not leave samples without an explanation of why you are handing a sample in.  Samples deposited without acccompanying information will be discarded.

Changes to Access as a result of COVID-19.

This GP Practice is currently restricting access for the safety of all patients and staff.

The practice remains open for all essential primary care problems but on the advice of Health Protection Scotland we have put in place a process whereby everyone is screened by telephone prior to being seen.

All patients will still have access to the care they require.

We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

The local authorities have put in place wellbeing telephone support lines to provide essential assistance to those who are in the ‘increased risk’ group.

The service is also available to those who are self-isolating and do not have friends or family nearby who are able to help them. The telephone support service can offer help with basic shopping, medicine delivery, links to social work services, emotional support and contact with local volunteer groups.

Turnaround time for a prescription is 48 hours unless urgent. To ease the pressure on pharmacies please only order medication that is due.

As restrictions around COVID-19 start to ease the practice would like to update patients on what to expect going forward with regard to how the practice will operate.

We will continue to use a telephone triage system and following a telephone conversation if the clinician feels it is appropriate you will be offered a face to face appointment. If your issue is not urgent you may not receive a call back on the same day.

We have multiple clinicians working at any one time triaging over the phone and seeing patients face to face as required. We are having many more patient contacts per day than pre-COVID.

Going forward it will still be necessary to reduce footfall through the practice and with this in mind prescriptions will continue be sent to a nominated pharmacy of your choice.

In response to patient feedback we have upgraded our phone system with increased lines and a call queuing system.  We now also offer the option to order your prescription via voicemail service or Patient Access out with practice hours.  Please remember if you are ordering your prescription out with practice core hours the 48 hour processing time will be from when the practice reopens.

Pharmacy First service is now widely available and is appropriate for many minor conditions. Information on this service can be found via the link which is on the practice website.

Online Appointment Booking - Patient Access

Unfortunately we have taken the decision to suspend online appointment booking at present.  We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but we do not have a robust system for screening these appointments and during the current situation regarding Corona Virus it is safer that we speak to patients before arranging an appointment.  We appreciate your co-operation and will announce via our website when the service is available.

Bloods & Go

Bloods & Go is a new service offered at Rutherglen Health Centre.  When you have been asked by the practice to have blood sampling you can collect your form and labels from the practice and attend Bloods & Go Mon - Thur 8am to 5pm and Fri 8am to 3pm. This is a walk in service, no appointment necessary.  You must take form and labels with you.  This service will be coming soon to Cambuslang also.

There are many situations where you may not require a face to face appointment with the doctor.  Please consider the information below.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Advanced Nurse Practitioners are highly experienced nurses educated to Masters Level who are able to assess, investigate, diagnose, and prescribe.

We have an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the practice who can see you for many things including acute back pain, joint sprains, acute chest infection, uti, diarrhoea, constipation, piles, dizziness, earache, swollen glands, oral thrush, raised temperature not improved after pharmacist advice and home treatment, shingles, tonsillitis, cough, sore throat, flu like illness, vaginal thrush, soreness, lump or discharge, vomiting, rashes, exacerbation of asthma, copd, diabetes, contraception, contraceptive implant removal and insertion.


For common ailments your community pharmacist can give you advice and can give you medicine on the Minor Ailments scheme without you having to pay for it.  

Over 60's, children and patients in receipt of certain benefits can receive advice and free treatment from the pharmacy  for complaints such as acne, athlete's foot, backache, cold sores, constipation, cough, diarrohea, earache, eczema, allergies, piles, hayfever, head lice, indigestion, mouth ulcers, nasal congestion, pain, period pain, thrush, sore throats, threadworms, warts and verrucae.

Did you know you can recycle your inhalers at Boots Pharmacy in Hamilton Road, Halfway?  Please hand in used inhalers and the pharmacy will arrange recycling.


Minor Injuries

If you have a dental problem please contact your dentist.  If your dentist is closed you can contact Out of Hours Dental Service on 0800224488.


An optometrist is the best person to assess urgent eye problems, check for eye disorders and treat eye conditions.  They have the professional training and necessary equipment to assess most eye problems.

Joint, Muscle or Back Pain

For sexual health and contraception advice call 03003030251.  Emergency contraception is available at most community pharmacies. Due to the present situation with regards to Corona Virus the C card scheme have put in place a temporary Condoms by Post service.
