Feedback from the Covid-19 vaccination clinic at Manor Site:
Received 12th January 2021
I would like to commend and thank you for the very speedy roll out of the COVID vaccine to the over 80s and extremely clinically vulnerable patients at your practice and beyond.
My mother who falls into both these categories has had both her jabs which is a great relief for her and her family. Although we will still be observing all the lockdown restrictions it is very reassuring that my mum has now been vaccinated.
Well done to all the staff who have worked extremely hard to ensure the roll out in your catchment area has been and continues to be successful.
Many thanks once again "
Received 18th February 2021
"I would like to say a great big “thank you” and tell you how impressed I am with how the surgery are coping and caring for it’s patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I came for my vaccination yesterday and was blown away at how efficient and effective the system in place for administering the vaccinations actually is - I don’t know what I was expecting but was very impressed with what I encountered.
I am also extremely grateful for and impressed with the unerring ongoing support and care I continue to receive from the whole team during these very difficult times we find ourselves in.
Thank you and take care everyone.
Covid-19 vaccinations at Manor Park Medical Centre – 16 December 2020
On 16 December we started the roll out of the covid-19 vaccination to people from our practice and surrounding practices in our primary care network.
We had 325 people booked in for vaccinations on this day. Unfortunately, due to the nature of how the vaccination has to be prepared, there was a delay in mixing the vaccination that held up the clinic. This means that a number of people had to wait longer than expected for their appointment. We acknowledge that the experience some patients had on this day falls below the standards that we aim to achieve and the practice and NHS Sheffield CCG apologise sincerely for any inconvenience and discomfort this caused patients who were waiting outside. We want to reassure you that we have learnt from this and we put plans in place to rectify the issue with preparing the vaccination to avoid the same delay happening again. The clinics planned for 17 and 18 December, and future dates, should run on time.
The vaccination clinics have been arranged in an incredibly short space of time since the announcement that the vaccination was approved, we are doing our best to ensure patients are being seen quickly and kept dry while waiting. This is a new vaccination and we haven’t run clinics on this level before, it is a learning curve for us all and we are taking feedback, suggestions and learning on board to improve the process. Although some people had to wait yesterday and had a less than positive experience, we did have lots positive feedback from patients too.
For people attending future covid-19 vaccination clinics, please note that you may have to wait outside for a short period of time before your appointment, we have an area that is undercover for you to wait in. Please ensure you are following social distancing guidelines when queuing. After you have had your vaccination you will be asked to wait 15 minutes so practice staff can observe you in case you have a reaction. Patients are able to wait inside in the waiting area provided there are enough seats available for people to socially distance. Although it’s highly unlikely, if the waiting area does get too full we have a marquee set up for patients to wait in outside. Please wear a warm coat and bring a scarf, hat and gloves in case you have to wait outside.
We want to thank all patients for your patience and support during these unprecedented times.

CORONAVIRUS SERVICE UPDATE
We are very sorry that we have limited capacity to see patients at the moment. The available appointments reach capacity very quickly every day which is a combination of heavy demand, staff sickness/self-isolation and coronavirus pressures. Coronavirus affects GP surgeries in multiple ways.
Firstly, there are sick patients who may have the virus who we need to assess. Secondly, because other patients may still be infected, we need to wear PPE and perform cleaning before and after patients. The process of seeing someone face-to-face takes is taking twice as long as it did before the pandemic. Thirdly, because routine hospital services are heavily restricted and many referrals are being rejected or delayed, we are managing much more ourselves in the community. This is very time consuming, because a lot of this work is testing the limits of our expertise; we are therefore spending more time liaising with specialists at the Hospital about the best course of action for these affected Patients.
The number of coronavirus cases in Sheffield and the number of patients in Sheffield Hospitals are both increasing rapidly. As the hospital postpones and restricts more routine services, GP surgeries will be impacted further. We really want you all to know that we are trying our best to provide the best care we can over the winter. We are increasing our workforce to cope with increasing call volumes and used more locum doctors to bolster the service than ever before, but that itself is not financially sustainable, GP surgeries are funded completely differently to Hospitals. We are providing drive through flu clinics to help manage the higher numbers
of people needing the jab this year. But we can only do so much and we are not immune from illness, nor are we exempt from rules for self-isolation or childcare responsibilities when our children have to self-isolate. Please be aware that we will most likely have these capacity issues as we go further and further into the winter months; the pressure on all NHS systems are made worse by the Coronavirus, and sadly things are going to get worse before they get better. It's a tough time for everyone, but particularly for the most vulnerable in society. We will continue to do our best.
We thank you for your understanding.
