Merger Update 24th March 2023

Dear patients,

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the process so far. We really appreciate the time and effort taken to complete the involvement survey, and your feedback.

We are pleased to confirm that we have received approval from Calderdale Cares Partnership (CCP) to merge Rosegarth Surgery and Spring Hall Group Practice.

What’s happening now?

Teams from Rosegarth Surgery and Spring Hall Group Practice are meeting regularly to discuss the details of the practice merger. We will share updates with you as soon as they are determined.

As part of the merger agreement, there are some contractual conditions to ensure that the process runs smoothly and that services are not disrupted.

  • There will be no changes to premise locations, or detrimental changes and/or reduction to the services currently available to both practice populations.
  • Spring Hall Group Practice will work closely with CCP to ensure the merger goes smoothly.

We are always interested in working with patients and value your feedback.

To get involved with the Patient Participation Group, please email wyicb-cal.secretariesspringhallsurgery@nhs.net or you can join through the Spring Hall Group Practice website.

Merger Update March 2023

PATCHS

We would like to announce we have launched a new online consultation tool called PATCHS at our GP practice.

The new online consultation service offers a secure, simple and flexible way for patients and carers to contact their GP practice — it will not replace face to face appointments, it is in addition to routine contact with Practices. This should not be used for emergencies when you should contact 999 or visit A&E.

You can register on our PATCHS page by clicking on the banner above. All you will need to do is provide an email address and set up a password.

Get more information on PATCHS

Need help using PATCHS? Visit the help centre for instructions and frequently asked questions. Please don't contact your GP practice for help using PATCHS.

What should I use PATCHS for?

Anything non-urgent that you need to ask your GP:

  • GP consultations
  • Fit/sick note
  • Repeat Medications and prescriptions
  • Health advice

How does it work?

How PATCHS works

Use the PATCHS website or mobile app to request help, and your GP will contact you to answer your question(s).

In some cases you may also need a follow-up appointment – either over the phone, video or face-to-face. We will arrange this with you when we contact you.

How do I get started with PATCHS?

  1. You can register for PATCHS here. You’ll be asked to enter your email address and set a password.
  2. Once you have registered, you can access PATCHS by going to their website or opening the PATCHS app on your smartphone. Login by entering your registered email address & password.
  3. Choose the appropriate option and answer a few simple questions to help your GP understand your problem.
  4. Your answers are sent to your GP who responds as quickly as possible. Initial responses may be via online message or phone, with face-to-face or video consultation appointments scheduled if necessary.

Does this replace Online Consult?

Yes, PATCHS replaces the Online Consult system we previously used. It’s now the quickest way to contact us for things you would normally ask in a routine appointment or phone us to ask.

OUR PHONE LINES ARE BUSY

Please bear with us whilst we try and answer your calls.  We are extremely short-staffed and will answer as quickly as possible. If you are unable to get through on the telephone please contact us by clicking on the Submit a new request button below.

Please continue to BeKind

Demand for appointments is extremely high across all GP practices right now. We understand how frustrating and worrying it can be if you are unwell or waiting for further treatment, but please continue to be kind to our team as they try their best to help everyone under difficult circumstances.

Violence and aggression towards our staff are never acceptable. Anyone who uses abusive language or threatening behaviour towards a practice team member will be refused care plus further action where necessary

Face masks

Try The New NHS App

If you’re a patient at our practice you can now use the new NHS App, a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

You can use the NHS App to check your symptoms and get instant advice, book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your GP medical record and more.

If you already use Systm Online you can continue to use it. You can use the NHS App as well.

For more information go to www.nhs.uk/nhsapp

(You might also need to review existing website content to make sure it covers the different options patients have to connect with online services.)

Why Are GP Practices Still Working Differently?

“If the Pandemic is over why aren’t GP practices open?”

The pandemic is not over.

GP practices worked hard to provide a service throughout lockdown and continue to do so.

To protect everyone, we must maintain safe infection control and minimise unnecessary physical contact.

Non-urgent advice: How are practices working now?

All appointments are being triaged.

This helps keep you safe and makes sure the people with the greatest need are seen first.

We will see everyone in person who needs to be seen that way.

Non-urgent advice: What is triage?

You will be assessed to decide who needs:

  • to be seen in person • a phone consultation • a video consultation • help from a community pharmacy. I wanted to see my GP, so why am I seeing someone else?

Many GP practices now include nurses, advanced nurse practitioners (who can diagnose and treat health conditions), occupational therapists, pharmacists, physiotherapists and link workers.

This ensures that you see the right person at the right time more quickly.

Non-urgent advice: Why do receptionists ask personal questions?

GP reception staff are a vital part of the health care team and ask questions to direct you to the best support.

They are skilled in assisting with triage and treat all information confidentially.

Non-urgent advice: Where else can I get help?

Visit nhs.uk for advice on common symptoms and a list of local services or speak to your pharmacist first for advice on minor illnesses.

Call 111:

  • to schedule a minor injuries appointment • for urgent mental health advice and guidance • if you’re too ill to wait for your GP or dentist to open

Urgent advice: What about emergencies?

Always dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency.

If you need help with minor injuries at any time or urgent care when your GP practice is closed dial 111.

Please be patient

Our health services are under enormous pressure, but we are open and here if needed.

Please work together with us to make sure you get the right care, in the right place, at the right time by the appropriate health professional for your needs.

Right care right place

Your call will be answered by a trained call handler who will discuss your problem and direct you to the most suitable service. All NHS 111 call handlers are supported by trained nurses.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Please note chest pains and/or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
