ABUSE OF STAFF

A recent campaign has recently being released by Practice Managers highlighting what our staff have to endure on a daily basis.  Our staff are here to help you, we must ask that you treat our staff with the respect that they deserve.  We would also like to thank those patients who treat our staff with kindness and respect.

Consult online

How are GP practices working now?

GP Practices are open but they may need to speak to you on the phone to decide how best to meet your needs. This may or may not include a face-to-face appointment.

What is triage?

The benefits of triage are: not waiting a long time for a first assessment and not needing time off work to see the Doctor. You may be assessed to decide if you need:

• to be seen in person

• a phone consultation

• a video consultation

• help from a community pharmacy.

Following triage if a face-to-face appointment is clinically required it will be booked.

What about emergencies?

Always dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency. If you need help with minor injuries at any time or urgent care when your GP practice or community pharmacy is closed visit 111.nhs.uk or dial 111 if you do not have internet access.

I wanted to see my GP, so why am I seeing someone else?

Many GP practices now include a range of professionals (e.g., advanced nurse practitioners) who can diagnose and treat health conditions. This ensures that you see the right person at the right time more quickly

Why do receptionists ask personal questions?

GP reception staff are a vital part of the health care team and ask questions to direct you to the best support. They are skilled in assisting with triage and treat all information confidentially.

Where else can I get help?

Visit www.nhs.uk for advice on common symptoms and a list of local services or speak to your community pharmacist first for advice on minor illnesses. Find your nearest pharmacy here: nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-pharmacy/

Please be a patient, patient

Our health services are under enormous pressure, but we are open and here if needed. Please continue to be kind to our staff, socially distance where possible and wear a face covering in healthcare settings.

ACCESS

Appointment system has changed from 1 July 2021 - 50% of both face to face and telephone consultations are pre-bookable in advance whilst the remaining appointments will be released on the same day.  You can also order repeat prescriptions online.

KEEP ANTIBIOTICS WORKING

TAKING ANTIBIOTICS ENCOURAGES HARMFUL BACTERIA THAT LIVE INSIDE YOU TO BECOME RESISTANT.  THAT MEANS THAT ANTIBIOTICS MAY NOT WORK WHEN YOU REALLY NEED THEM.  THIS PUTS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AT RISK OF A MORE SEVERE OR LONGER ILLNESS.

Take your doctor or nurses advice when it comes to antibiotics

Practice History

pic.pngThe practice was formed in October 2002 as a result of a merger between two practices. Both practices had a long history of serving the people of Middlesbrough, one of them predated the inception of the NHS.

We wanted a name for the practice which not only reflected the past history, but also looked to the future with hope and optimism.

'Erimus' was thought to be most appropriate name. It appears on the town's Coat of Arms, which was adopted by the town in 1853. Erimus translates from Latin to "We Will Be".

We all agreed that this would be very appropriate name, which reflects the past, but also suggests forward thinking and progress.

Practice Standards

We continually strive to provide modern day health care for all patients registered with the practice.

We will treat you as an individual and respect your privacy and personal beliefs.

We will ensure that you have easy access to the service, and you receive an explanation of your health matters and agree with you a plan to ensure good health.

Out of Hours Access

GP opening hours have been extended for all GP practices in the South of Tees CCG area.  To improve primary care services outside normal hours, patients can now access South Tees Access and Response Service (STAR).

If you require a GP or Nursing appointment out of normal practice hours or general medical advice, please call the STAR 111 Service.  Alternatively, you can book an out of normal surgery appointment via the following URL

http://www.starappointment.co.uk/booking/

The STAR service offers appointments from 6pm to 9.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 9.30pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
