WELCOME TO ALBYN MEDICAL PRACTICE ONLINE
Why are GP Practices still working differently?
The pandemic is not over yet and the modelling suggests there is a 3rd wave on its way. We must protect Primary Care teams and vulnerable patients by keeping face to face contact for those very vulnerable patients who need it most.
How are practices working now?
All appointments are being triaged - this means that people with the greatest need are being seen first and that face-to-face appointments are reserved for those who really need them.
Why do receptionists ask personal questions?
Put simply, because they have been asked to! Anyone that is tasked with answering a call at a GP practice must maintain strict confidence and only ask questions to help you get the right treatment.
What is Triage?
The Duty medic will assess all the information from every eConsult and phone query and decide who needs to be seen in person, who needs a phone consultation, who needs to be seen via video and who can be directed to a community pharmacist etc.
Where else can I get help?
NHS Inform has a wealth of information to help you help yourself: https://www.nhsinform.scot/
Community Pharmacists (chemists) can help with many common ailments and illnesses and can prescribe some medicines too - click here for more information on Pharmacy First and how it can help you.
Please be patient
Primary Care Teams have been on the frontline and have been working incredibly hard throughout the pandemic. Many of them are exhausted and they really are doing their best to help you.
Just like you they want to get back to as close to normal as possible as soon as possible, but we are not there yet.
ONLINE SERVICES
We have currently suspended booking of appointments on line - this allows us to check the reason for your appointment and deal with this by phone if appropriate to prevent patients visiting the practice if this is not needed.
Prescriptions can still be ordered using this service - please ensure that you advise us which pharmacy you would like to pick up your prescriptions from as these cannot currently be collected from the practice.
Hints and Tips for using eConsult and getting the best out of it!
Try to choose the specific medical condition you wish to consult about. If you know or are fairly certain what condition you are suffering from please select “I want help for my condition” and then pick the condition from the list. This provides us with the most appropriate information for your condition.
You may find some questions seem repetitive but please answer as fully as possible – they help inform the doctor who is reviewing your information.
If you think the doctor may prescribe medication for you please include the name of your preferred pharmacy when answering this section. This will help us to direct your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. Prescriptions cannot be collected from the surgery during the Covid 19 pandemic.
It is sometimes helpful for the doctor to have a photo to help him/her to diagnose your condition. To include a photo you must choose a specific condition. Select “I want help for my condition” and then select an appropriate condition (eg acne, rash, hives, eczema etc). Please see the video below to help you to attach a photo to the eConsult.
Try to choose General Advice only when your condition is unknown or it does not fit into any of the condition categories.
