Welcome to Derby Road Health Centre

Derby Road Health Centre has been a long-standing practice in Lenton for many years and has three GP partners and one managing partner.  The doctors are supported by three salaried GP's, two advanced nurse practitioners, four nurses, one healthcare assistant and two phlebotomists who aim to provide the best possible care for patients

Behind the scenes we have a large administrative team who, together with the our management team, ensure that the practice runs smoothly.

Our purpose built premises on Derby Road, accessible via Johnson Road, is located in the Lenton area of Nottingham approximately 20 to 30 minutes walk from Nottingham city centre.

We also have an attached pharmacy on site for filling prescriptions.

The surgery is a training practice, investing in and dedicated to support and train new people who choose this rewarding but challenging career, for more information see below.

A message from Dr Nina Vadgama, Derby Road Health Centre's new senior partner.

It is with huge enthusiasm that I take up the role of senior partner at the Derby Road Health Centre.

I joined the partnership in November 2010 after completing my studies at the University of Oxford and the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, and undertaking my GP training locally in Nottingham. In addition to my GP role I am responsible for training both junior doctors and GP trainees at the practice; I also undertake GP appraisal work for NHS England.

In my twelve years as a partner at the practice I have immensely enjoyed my role, getting to know so many of you and working within such a hard working and dedicated team. Becoming senior partner is an exciting new chapter, allowing me to lead the practice in serving our local community and championing the team’s shared values of high quality care and compassion.

The practice remains in a strong position, continuing to rebuff the national crisis within primary care: my partners (Dr Lewis-Evans, Dr Said and Ms Martin) and I are delighted to have recruited 3 additional GPs, an advanced nurse practitioner and a practice nurse to work alongside our skilled multidisciplinary team. The future looks bright!

GP Training Practice

The practice has been accredited by the East Midlands Deanery as a GP Training Practice. This means the practice usually has two to three trainee Doctors (F2s and Registrars) training to specialise in General Practice. Each doctor will remain with us for a period of 4-6 months. You may therefore be offered an appointment with the  Registrar or F2.

As part of their training and assessment they may have to video record some of their consultations and you will be asked if you would be happy to take part. At any time you are able to say "no" to being videotaped and this will not prejudice your consultation in any way.

If you are happy to be videotaped the receptionist will ask you to sign a consent form. At the end of your consultation, if you don't wish the tape to be used, you can state this and the tape will be erased. You may also be asked to complete a questionnaire about your consultation which is optional.
