To help reduce any Coronavirus risks for patients and staff, we have made changes to our appointment booking systems with immediate effect. We will now be doing telephone triage for ALL patients who are requesting new appointments, to reduce the number of people visiting the surgery. When your call is answered, our Care Navigators will take some basic details and add you to a telephone call back list. You will be called back by a clinician who will assess your need for a face to face appointment, and book you in if needed. We are also switching the online booking system back on for telephone consultation appointments only.
Please note that we encourage appointments to be booked via the telephone or online system.
For appointments booked for today or Monday 16th March please note you will receive a text message or telephone call accordingly. If you have an appointment for Saturday 14th March please attend as normal unless you have been advised otherwise or have the symptoms outlined below.

Appointments Update - 21st November

We have listened to the feedback we have received about our new appointment system. One of the main concerns is that it is still not clear how best to book an appointment with your GP of choice. To try and improve this, from 2 December appointments with name GPs will be released as follows:

    Every Monday - you will be able to book available appointments for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

    Every Wednesday - you will be able to book available appointments for Friday and the following Monday

    We are also increasing the proportion of appointments that will be available online to 50% to provide an alternative to call or visiting the surgery.

    Our 'Same Day' service will continue unchanged - if you have an urgent need to be seen that day, please ring the practice to request an appointment with one of the same day team. Appointments with named GPs  are not offered in the same day service.

    We hope these changes will make things clearer and easier and we will continue to listen to comments and complaints and make further changes if needed.

    From Saturday 2nd November, all Saturday appointments in Hedon will be seen at Hedon Group Practice. Church View Surgery will no longer be open and patients who previously have attended there are asked to go to the Hedon Group Practice location for their appointment instead. Appointments can continue to be booked in the normal way by contacting your usual surgery.

    There will be an 8 week transition period (up to and including Saturday 21st December) when we will continue to open the Dispensary at our Church View Surgery site in Hedon between 9am and 11am. This will be for the collection of medication and prescriptions only. We hope the transition period will allow us to communicate this change to all our patients and ensure you are not inconvenienced.



    The Practice was established in 1892, originally extending out to Patrington, but concentrating as the population grew at the surgeries at Hedon and Keyingham. The Hedon surgery started out in a little room in the Market Place, moving to 8 Market Hill and expanding there twice before outgrowing this and finally entering the current premises in 1989. Further extensions have been added to meet the clinical needs of our patient population.


    Our Keyingham surgery retains its traditional village surgery atmosphere following interior changes.

    This means when you phone us or call in to the Surgeries to book an appointment our receptionists will be asking you a brief description of your problem.

    This active signposting by our reception staff provides you with a first point of contact which directs you to the most appropriate source for help.


    Consult Online          

    Consult Online

    We have gone live with a new online system called Engage Consult. You can use this 24 hours a day and if needed our GPs will respond no later than the end of the next working day. It's simple to use. Patients or carers can choose to ask about a medical problem or send a message about an administration issue. If it's a medical problem you answer a series of simple questions about your symptoms and then a report is sent securely to the practice and used by our GPs to decide the best course of action.     Holderness Health

    We are delighted to announce that Holderness Health has been chosen as the name for the new practice from 1 October 2018. This new practice will now be made up of South Holderness Medical Practice, Hedon Group Practice and ourselves.

    We three practices currently share responsibility for the care of 36,000 patients in the Holderness area and by joining together we hope to achieve greater benefits for both our patients and staff.

    These benefits include:

    having a stronger and louder voice to represent the needs and concerns of our patients, attracting new GPs and nurses into the area, providing greater opportunities for career development for our existing staff, and developing our growing reputation as a centre of excellence for training and research. 

    By joining together we believe that we will build a more resilient practice that can better look after the needs of Holderness Health patients for many years to come.

    Hedon Surgery Front Door/Gate

    The GPs would like to discourage patients from waiting outside the front door/gate at Hedon in a morning, especially during the winter months.

    Please be aware that due to health and safety reasons we are unable to open

    the surgery front doors until 8.00am. Thank you for your understanding.

    Missed Appointments

    Our reception managers now contact patients who do not attend for their appointment.

    If you feel you do not need the appointment or are unable to attend please contact us so we can offer the appointment to another patient. Thank you.

    Patient Group and Suggestion Box

    Did you know that we have a Patient Group? The idea of the patient group is to have a representative group of patients we can contact when we have ideas or questions about the future of the Practice. If this is something that is of interest to you please click the link on the right of this page.

    Home Visits


    If you are too unwell to attend the surgery please phone us before 10.00am. The receptionist will request your full name, address, telephone number and brief details about the nature of the problem. This will help us be certain that urgent calls are seen promptly.

    Remember, we can see three or four people in the Surgery in the time an average visit takes.


    Named GP for Every Patient


    Every patient at the Practice has been assigned a 'Named Accountable GP'.  This is a contractual obligation on the practice from NHS England.  If you have not been informed of this already and if you wish to know your allocated GP then simply ask and we will tell you.
