Antenatal Clinic

If you are pregnant, ask at reception to book with the midwife.  She will monitor you through your pregnancy to detect any problems and be able to advise you and answer any questions you may have about pregnancy and childbirth.

Asthma Clinic

The practice nurse can see you regularly to advise on inhaler technique, self monitoring of asthma, medication changes when necessary and general lifestyle improvements.

Breast Screening

As part of the NHS breast screening programme, all women aged between 50 and 70 will be called for mammography (x-ray of breasts) every 3 years.

Cardiovascular Clinic

We have clinics for people who have experienced heart disease or stroke where you will regularly have your blood pressure and cholesterol checked, your medication reviewed and will be advised on lifestyle changes to help you try to prevent further illness.

Cervical Screening

All women aged 25-64 are invited for cervical screening.  By having regular smears any changes that may occur in the cervix may be picked up early before they become cancerous.  Our practice nurses mainly carry out the smear tests.

Counselling Service

The practice has a counselling service at both sites.

Diabetes Management

The aim is to prevent complications of diabetes by regular monitoring of diabetic control, together with lifestyle advice.

Dietary Advice

All doctors and practice nurses are able to offer dietary and lifestyle advice in a routine appointment, written information is also available.

Emphysema/COPD Management

The nursing team offer COPD Management to patients diagnosed with Emphysema/COPD.

Family Planning

You can see the practice nurse for emergency contraception or for monitoring and repeat prescriptions of pills and injections.  All doctors are able to provide a confidential family planning service including emergency contraception, the contraceptive pill and injections.  Coil fittings and the contraceptive implant can also be arranged.

Hypertension Clinic/Heart Disease/Stroke

Untreated high blood pressure can increase the risk of heart attached and strokes.  Any doctor or nurse can check your blood pressure and if high arrange blood and urine tests and an ECG.

Influenza Injections

Each Autumn/Winter we run flu clinics.  Anyone over 65, or suffering from a Chronic Disease at any age is at an increased risk from flu and should be vaccinated.  Look out for the adverts when flu vaccines arrive.

Sexual Health Screening

Simple Screening is offered to registered patients by our practice nurses, if you require a full sexual health screening please contact the new croft centre.

Travel Vaccinations

We can advise you and arrange your travel vaccinations and medications.  Patients need to complete a travel questionnaire and return it to the surgery at least 1 week before booking an appointment with the practice nurse and, allowing at least 1 month before travel.  Some travel vaccinations and medications will also need to be paid for on a private prescription.  Please note this is not a priority service, priority is given to acute and chronic health needs.  Information on other providers can be given to you.

Weight Management

This is offered by our practice nurses and can advise you on healthy diets and ways to manage your weight.

Well Man Clinic

If you are between 40-60 years of age you should consider seeing your doctor or practice nurse for a well man check.  We will screen you for any existing illness and advise you on staying well in the future.  You will have your height and weight, blood pressure and cholesterol checked plus and additional tests depending on your symptoms, risk or family history.

Well Woman Clinic

You can make an appointment to discuss gynecological problems, family planning, menopause issues or ask advice about smears or breast checks.  We can also offer general health checks such as blood pressure checks and other lifestyle advice.
