Clinics and Services Available at the Practice
The doctors all provide general medical services including the following:
- Maternity medical services
- Contraceptive services
- Child health surveillance services
- Minor surgery services
Antenatal Clinic
The practice team provides care for patients who are pregnant. The midwife mainly undertakes antenatal care, the doctors will see patients when the pregnancy is confirmed or should the patient wish to see the doctor at any other time during the pregnancy. The midwife arranges an initial appointment to see patients in her clinic and then books all necessary follow-up appointments. Once a pregnancy is confirmed the patient needs to book into a routine double appointment with the doctor, the doctor will make the appropriate referral for obstetric care.
Asthma
As part of their long-term management all patients are encouraged to attend the asthma clinic for an annual check, this ensures that you are taking the most appropriate medication and that your asthma is controlled. A reminder will be sent to patients when their clinic visit is due. Support and advice is also offered for smoking cessation. This clinic is only intended for long-term asthma management. For urgent asthma care, please make an appointment with any doctor in the usual way.

Baby Clinic
Immunisation clinics are held on Wednesday between 10am and 11.30am.
Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
The practice nurses carry out cardiovascular risk assessments (referral is from a doctor so please speak to a doctor if you believe there are indications that you need an assessment). We can offer advice on the main causes of heart disease: smoking, high blood pressure, a family history of heart attacks or stroke, high cholesterol and obesity.
Cervical Smears
Our practice nurses do routine smears; they are carried out in accordance with guidance from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.
Contraception
We are able to provide a range of contraception within the surgery. Our nurses and all the doctors can advise you during routine appointments on all aspects of contraception, pills (including emergency contraception), diaphragms, IUDs, coils and sterilisation. This confidential service is available to patients of any age who require advice.
Diabetes
All diabetic patients have a comprehensive annual check-up, which includes testing blood, urine, and also a physical examination. Screening for possible eye problems linked with diabetes, is undertaken, and all our diabetic patients are also referred for retinal photography and dietary advice; Dr Hussain and Sister Hardwick run this clinic during normal surgery hours. Emergency Contraception
Urgent appointments are available from Monday to Friday. If you require emergency contraception please advise reception staff that you need see or speak to a doctor on the day of your request. Confidentiality is assured at all times. Follow-up is also advised to discuss further contraception.
Joint Injections
Some arthritic joint conditions, as well as many chronic inflammatory conditions such as 'tennis elbow, may benefit from a steroid injection. Please see the doctors for further advice.
Minor Surgery
During minor surgery appointments, the doctors can remove warts, some moles, and skin tags using simple surgical techniques. The Doctors are approved for minor surgery. These appointments should be booked after discussion with the doctors.
New Patient Health Checks
If you or your family are new to the practice and are aged over 5 years and would like a new patient health check this can be booked at reception (please bring a urine sample to this appointment).
NHS Health Checks
The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and certain types of dementia. Everyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who has not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions or have certain risk factors, will be invited (once every five years) to have a check to assess their risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes and will be given support and advice to help them reduce or manage that risk. Please ask at reception if you have not been offered a NHS Health Check yet and would like one.
Other Clinics
The practice nurses may also give you advice on the following:
- Stop smoking - please note Worcestershire County Council have decided not to commission a stop smoking service from practices in Worcester with effect from 31/7/2016. We will continue this service for patients who set a quit date up to and including 31/3/2016. After 31/7/2016 we will post information about stop smoking services on our website but will no longer hold clinics or issue smoking cessation product prescriptions at the practice.
- Healthy eating
- Influenza vaccination, during October and November each year
Post Natal Clinic
Post-natal appointments are booked at 9am and 9.20am on Wednesday morning. Post-natal checks take place 8 weeks after delivery. Patients are sent an appointment by the practice. Baby immunisations are usually arranged for the same time as the post-natal appointment.
Stroke Monitoring
If you have experienced a stroke in the past you will be invited to attend a stroke monitoring clinic appointment annually. The clinic is run by the practice nurse and includes a variety of health checks and advice.
Teenage Advice
Confidential advice is available to all teenagers, on any matter including general health, eating disorders, spots and acne, emotional problems, sexual health and contraception. Please speak to a nurse or doctor.
Temporary Residents
The doctors are prepared to see any of your family and friends who need a doctor when they are staying with you. Similarly, when you are away from home in the UK you can visit any local doctor as a temporary resident, without having to register as a permanent patient at the surgery.

Well Person Check
A well person check is carried out by the practice nurse and involves routine health checks and advice – if you are not under regular review by the doctor or nurse you may wish to book an appointment for a well person check.
If you are aged 75 or over and have not been seen at the practice in the last 12 months and would like a general health check please book an appointment with the practice nurse.
