Our advanced nurse practitioners consult in a similar manner to the doctors.  They will see patients with a wide variety of minor illnesses ensuring the doctors have appointments to see more complex issues.

The following is a rough guide as to the conditions they manage:

Ear, nose, throat and chest problems

Eyes

Skin - rashes, infected wounds, shingle, nappy rash, eczema

Gynaecology

Abdomen - abdominal pain, constipation, Diarrhoea and Vomiting, Indigestion etc.

Community Midwives

Community Midwives provides care during and after pregnancy.  Maternity services are no longer provided within the practice.  To book your first (booking in appointment) with a midwife please ring 01382 632866.  Subsequent appointments can be arranged by ringing 01382 740204.

Community Nurses

Our team of District Nurses cover all aspects of nursing care in the home for housebound patients. They have a wide variety of nursing experience that ensures our patients receive a high standard of care. They may be contacted by:

Health Visitors

Our team of Health Visitors are experienced nurses with a specialist qualification in Community Health Nursing.   The Health Visiting team serving Downfield patients is based in Ryehill Heath Centre and can be contacted by telephoning 01382 740554 (answering machine) Monday - Friday.   Messages are checked regularly.
