Dr Rod Lewis

MB BS 1990 (Charing Cross) FPCert MRCGP

Rod Lewis qualified in 1990 at Charing Cross Hospital in London following which he worked in a number of London hospitals in various specialities in preparation for his career as a general practitioner.

He worked for seven years as a full-time GP in South-West London before moving to Dorset with his wife (an ex-nurse) and son. He has been working at Queens Avenue since 2002.

His interests outside work include skiing, food (creating and consuming), skiing(again), music and skiing (once more before the season’s over, if possible).

Dr Madeline Phillips

MRCGP 2002 (Sheffield) CHS DFSRH CIDC

Madeline Phillips qualified in 2002 from Sheffield University following which she worked in a number of different specialities before becoming a general practitioner.

She worked in Birmingham as a part-time partner in a busy inner city practice before relocating with her husband (Urologist) and their children to Dorset in December 2011 when she joined Queens Avenue Surgery as a Partner the following year.

Her life outside work is mainly centred around her childrens' social lives – playing sport, having friends for tea and getting their homework done on time are her main pastimes!

Dr Alex Glover

MBChB 2009 (Bristol) MRCGP

Alex Glover qualified from Bristol Medical School in 2009 and worked in Yeovil for two years before moving to Dorchester to train as a GP. He worked in Queens Avenue Surgery as the Registrar and was delighted when he was asked to become a partner on completing the GP training in 2014.

He lives in Dorchester with his wife and their three children.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family as well as playing bass in his band and looking after his garden whenever he can.

Dr Amanda Stubbs

Amanda Stubbs trained surgically and transferred to GP training after starting a family.  She recently relocated to Dorset from her GP Partner post in Aylesbury with her consultant husband who works at Dorset County Hospital. After providing locum work at Queens Avenue she joined the partnership in 2016.

She enjoys spending time with friends and her young family of 4 children, exploring our beautiful county and beaches. She recently started running and learning to horse ride with her daughter.

Dr Robin de Uphaugh

Robin de Uphaugh qualified from St. George’s Medical School, London in 2011. The sea air pulled him to the South Coast where he worked in different specialities before deciding to become a GP.  During his training he spent time working in Belize and New Zealand. This was both challenging and rewarding, helping him to develop the skills required to qualify as a GP in 2017. He was very pleased to be offered a Partnership at Queens Avenue Surgery in 2018.

When not working, he enjoys windsurfing, cycling, skiing, playing the piano and saxophone.

Dr Charlotte Higgins

BM Hons 2006 (Southampton) DCH MRCGPCharlie Higgins

Charlotte Higgins qualified in 2006 from Southampton and started at Dorset County Hospital as a junior doctor before commencing her General Practice locally. She worked at Queens Avenue as a Registrar and completed her GP training in 2011. Since then she has worked as a locum and at a busy Weymouth Practice, but is very happy to be back at Queens Avenue, she works part-time.  Charlotte very much enjoys being a Mum to her three young boys, as a family they love the outdoors and especially the beach. She has started running and keeping fit, she loves flower arranging and would like to do more of this.

Dr Rebecca Trickey

Becca

Rebecca Trickey qualified from the University of Leeds in 2005. She completed her GP training in Harrogate and the surrounding North Yorkshire area, moving back to her home town of Dorchester after her first child was born. She then worked locally as a GP in Maiden Newton and Weymouth before joining Queens Avenue Surgery in 2022 as a Salaried GP.  Rebecca joined the Partnership in July 2023.  

Rebecca lives locally with her husband and 3 daughters. Outside of work she enjoys spending time as a family playing games, baking and walking in the countryside.

Dr Rachel Henderson

Dr Rachel Henderson Rachel

Rachel attended medical school at the University of Leeds. During her time at university she completed an intercalated degree in International Health, throughout which her focus was on human rights, health policy, and women's rights. She has completed research projects in both India and the US, with studies into women's reproductive rights and adolescent mental health respectively.

After graduating in 2013, she worked in various hospital and community roles across the South East. She then began her GP training in Dorset, and will complete the final months of her training here at Queen's Avenue.

Rachel devotes much of her time outside of work to looking after her young family, but also enjoys swimming in the sea, spending time with friends, and has interests in music, art, cooking and handiwork.

Dr Olivia Wood

Dr Olivia Wood

Dr Wood qualified in 2004 from St George’s University in Grenada and then spent 2 years working as a junior doctor in Bristol and Hertfordshire.

In 2007 she left the UK to work abroad in Botswana in local HIV and TB clinics for 3 years. From there she moved for her husband's job to Vietnam where they spent 10 years while she raised 3 children and worked in international clinics in Ho Chi Minh City. 

She and her family relocated back to England during the pandemic and she started her GP training in Dorset in February 2021 and is thoroughly enjoying it.

She likes to spend her time relaxing at home cooking for her family, swimming whenever she can, especially wild swimming and planning future holidays.
