Nurse Practitioners

BSc Advanced Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner is able to deal with many of the problems you would normally take to a doctor. 

Sheis trained to undertake full clinical examinations of patients with undiagnosed problems or illnesses. She can initiate treatments and prescribe medication where necessary and can refer you to other health professionals such as hospital consultants, physiotherapy etc. 

Appointments can be booked with the nurse practitioner in the Acute Assessment Unit on a same day basis via the surgery appointment system. Home visits where appropriate may also be arranged via the practice co-ordinator.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
