Patients who are on regular medication may be able to request repeat prescriptions without seeing the doctor. You can request repeat prescriptions online, by post, by fax or in person. We no longer accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.
All of the pharmacies in Buxton and Fairfield offer a prescription collection service and we can arrange this for you. Please speak to one of the receptionists about this service. Otherwise, prescriptions can be collected from the surgery or sent to you by post if you provide a stamped addressed envelope.
Repeat prescriptions take 2 working days to produce, (3 days if they go to a chemist)
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
