The safest and easiest way to request your medication is by signing up to SystmOnline and ordering via the link at the top of this page. Simply ask for a form at reception and you will be issued with a password. Alternatively you can request your prescription in writing at the surgery.
The dispensary does not accept incoming phone calls but they do have an answerphone where you can leave any medication queries and they will call you back.
We require two full working days between your request for a repeat and you calling to collect it. If you request something that is not on repeat then a message has to go to the GP before it can be authorised. This can take up to one week.
Winchcombe Medical Centre is able to dispense medications to those patients who live more than one mile away from a retail pharmacy. For the most part, this covers patients in all outlying villages and some areas of Winchcombe.
The dispensary team will also print the repeat prescriptions for patients to whom we do not dispense.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
- Prescription (per item): £8.80
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
- 3-month PPC: £29.10
- If you will need to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. The charge for a single prescription item is £8.80, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £29.10 and a 12 month PPC £104.00.
