When We Are Closed

If you call outside surgery opening hours you will hear a recorded message giving the number of the GP Out of Hours on 111.

If you are feeling unwell but the problem is not so urgent, you can get advice from NHS 111 Wales via their web site or by ringing 111. Calls to 111 are free of charge and are recorded for safety and training purposes.

If you are uncertain whether you need a GP, this section of the 111 site may help you decide who to contact.

In a genuine life-threatening emergency you should call 999.

Examples of an emergency include:

Unconsciousness
Difficulty in breathing
A suspected heart attack or chest pain
Suspected stroke (new onset of lopsided Face, Arm or leg weakness on one side, or loss of Speech function)
Heavy blood loss
Serious injury
Severe burns

The Accident & Emergency Department at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff is no longer accepting non 999 walk-ins. They expect patients to ring them first on 111.
