GP Lead for Undergraduate Teaching – Bath Academy


We have an exciting opportunity for the GP Lead at Bath Academy – 1 session per week.

Bath Academy is the training and education centre for University of Bristol medical students undertaking RUH hospital placements and is based at the Education Centre within the Royal United Hospital. We are one of 7 clinical Academies of Bristol Medical School based within the Severn Deanery.

The Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust provides acute treatment and care for a catchment population of around 500,000 people in Bath, and the surrounding towns and villages in north east Somerset and western Wiltshire. The Trust provides 565 beds and a comprehensive range of acute services including medicine and surgery, services for women and children, accident and emergency services, and diagnostic and clinical support services. It is located 14 miles from Bristol and approximately 1.5 miles from Bath city centre.
Bath Academy caters for around 400 medical students per year who are from different year groups & visiting for different lengths of time. The post holder would only be involved with those students who have placements in General Practice.

The post holder will assist with the recruitment of new GP Practices, contribute to Primary Care GP teacher workshops, help local GPs maintain excellent standards in GP teaching, assist the Academy administrative team in arranging GP placements and assist in the planning and running of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for the 4th year students.

This post is remunerated at 1 session per week.

We are a small practice with a strong sense of team and continuity of care for our patients, looking for an enthusiastic and committed Nurse, to join our team.

We seek a Practice Nurse for 16-18 hours per week, worked over 3 days. This is a varied role and covers all aspects of practice nursing.
Salary Band 6 equivalent.

Experience in a primary care setting would be an advantage, but we are happy to discuss support with training.
