Home Visits

A Home Visit is provided when a patient who is house bound (and by definition unable to leave their home to attend the surgery), or a resident in a care home and require medical assessment or treatment.

If you require a home visit please ring before 11.00am and give the receptionist the reason for the request and make sure we have the correct address and contact details for the patient.  A doctor may need to ring you back for more information.

Please be aware that if we are informed of the Home Visit after 11:00am, depending on the demand the GP may be unable to attend the same day.

You are not able to request a specific doctor for a home visit as they are shared according to the workload that day.

Please note that Home Visits are very time consuming and in view of the large geographical area the practice covers, a doctor could see up to 6 patients in surgery in the time it takes to complete one home visit and that is why only the house bound and care home patients are attended to at home.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP or secondary care services.   You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
