How to see a Clinician at the Surgery

Surgery attendance is by appointment only.

Please call or phone your surgery during office hours. The system is flexible, two working days is the usual waiting time for non-urgent appointments.

Urgent conditions, especially for children and the elderly will be seen on the same day. Half of the appointment slots are pre-bookable and half of the appointments are available on the day.  Give as much information as possible to organize the necessary tests, surgery procedure and form filling. This saves a lot of consultation time and reduces other patients waiting time in the surgery.  You can also book appointments online, this is called ‘Patient Access’, please ask for details to register for this service. Appointments are 10 minute appointments, if you have more than one problem or if you feel you need longer to discuss your problem, please request a double appointment.

A responsible adult should accompany children under 16; a chaperone is available on request.

Extended Hours

Ashfield Road Surgery are open Extended Hours Clinics on a Monday evening from 6.30 to 8.00 pm

These appointments are ideal for patients who cannot attend the surgery in normal working hours.

Late Arrivals for Appointments

The practice will, as far as practicable, see patients who arrive late, however this may be at the end of surgery and will therefore involve a considerable wait for those who do not wish to re-book.

Telephone Consultations

You can arrange to speak to the GP on duty by booking a telephone consultation. General advice can be given on a daily basis by telephoning the reception.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
