Home Visits

The doctors are extremely busy and can see more patients in surgery, where they have all the necessary facilities, than they can if they are doing house calls. Generally speaking we feel that only the elderly and immobile or patients who are absolutely unable to travel because of serious illness need a house call. House calls are time consuming and their misuse can take the doctors away from those in greater need. In particular, house calls are not warranted simply because patients have transportation problems or can leave the house for other appointments. If you, a family member or a neighbour has transport, or you can use public transport, please make the effort to come to the surgery.  Any abuse of housecall requests will result in a warning letter being issued.

If you do require a house call during normal surgery hours please ring before 10.30 am.

A receptionist will take your details and the doctor will call you back to discuss your problem. The receptionists may ask you questions as to the urgency and nature of a problem and whilst we appreciate that you may prefer to discuss this with your doctor our staff do respect your confidentiality and only make these enquiries at the doctors request in order to prioritise their calls.

Sometimes the doctor can sort out the problem over the phone but if a visit is needed then it can be done after morning surgery.
