Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered via the NHS App or online. You can also attend the surgery to fill in a request slip. Prescription will not be accepted by phone. Pharmacies can no longer request your medication on your behalf.
If you require a repeat prescription, to prevent you running out, please ensure you order in time allowing 48 hours’ notice. The reason for this is due to the large number of requests we get. The doctors have to ensure they are prescribing safely and may need to check your notes before signing.
Medication will not be issued early unless you request for a specific reason e.g. going on holiday Please ensure this is mentioned on your request.
Medication Reviews
Please ensure you attend reviews to enable us to continue to prescribe your medication safely.
Please be aware prescriptions may be declined or quantities decreased if your review is overdue.
Electronic Prescribing
If you use a regular pharmacy, you can sign up to electronic prescribing. This means when your prescription is ready, we can electronically send your prescription directly to your nominated pharmacy, removing the need for you to collect it from us first. (Please be aware that the 48 hour rule still applies). You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time by registering with a new pharmacy or contacting us at the surgery.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing
We are now using Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) to enable patients, who are stable on regular medications, to obtain up to a one year supply of medicines directly from their nominated pharmacy. This reduces the administration work required by patients and surgery staff ensuring your pharmacy can have your medicines ready to collect. Please read the Patient Information Leaflet and sign up for this service via eConsult. We will contact you to let you know when you are set up or explain why you may not be currently suitable for this service.
