Test Results

Minor Illness Nurses

Specially trained nurses, Jane Bennett and Helen Bradbury are available on Monday - Friday from 9am to 12 noon and again in the afternoon or evening. They will deal with minor problems such as coughs, earaches, skin problems, emergency contraception and urinary infections etc.

pregnantPractice Nurses

Our team of Practice Nurses is lead by Kim Cooke.  It provides Treatment Room services e.g. dressings, removal of stitches, blood tests and cervical smear tests from Monday - Friday between 8.30 - 12 noon and 5 - 6.30pm. We run childhood immunisations clinics (Wed morning) and a Travel Clinic (Mondays).  We also advise on the management of Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Problems, HRT, Hypertension (raised blood pressure), COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and Stop Smoking and provide general health checks.  Details of these services are available from Reception.

Contraceptive/Sexual Health Nurse

Sara Bailey is available on Monday evenings, Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings. Sara provides contraceptive services and general advice on pre-conception and sexual health.

District Nurses

There is a district nursing team attached to the practice. They provide nursing services to those patients who are too ill to attend surgery.

chdCommunity Midwife

Provides antenatal and postnatal care, parent craft classes and home visits, and antenatal clinics at the health centre.

Emergency Care Practitioner

Katie Shore is a specially trained nurse, providing urgent care to patients experiencing an acute illness or a minor injury and is too ill to attend the surgery.  Some of the duties she will undertake include assessing and managing care, initiating and reviewing treatment, ordering tests and investigations,giving advice on health and social care issues and if required referring to other specialities to promote healthy and independent living and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions. 

Community Matron

Angela Hunn provides care fo relderly patients with long term chrronic conditions who might otherwise need to be admitted for hospital care. 

vaccHealth Visitors

The team works mainly with young families and the elderly. They monitor and advise on the health and development of children under five. If you have a child under the age of five you can expect contact with a health visitor within one week of registering with us. Should you need to contact a health visitor before this visit, ring 0117 967 7191, give the name of your GP and ask to speak to the appropriate health visitor.
Where necesaary health visitors undertake assessments of the elderly in their own homes.

Private / Non-NHS Services

Certain services provided by your doctor, such as private / sports medicals, private certificates, HGV medicals, some travel vaccinations and insurance claims, are not covered by the NHS and you will be asked to pay a fee. The receptionists will help with any queries you may have.

Influenza Immunizations

Available in the autumn for people with breathing, heart or chronic renal problems, diabetes and everyone aged 65 and over - for whom influenza is a particular risk. Further details available from reception.

Minor Surgery

All doctors provide various minor surgery services.

Maternity Care and Health Surveillance

Doctors provide antenatal and postnatal care as well as six week development checks during afternoon surgeries.

Chaperone Service

It is practice policy to offer a chaperone when intimate physical examination is necessary.
