CLINICS
MINOR SURGERY
We are pleased to be able to offer the convenience of minor surgery at the practice rather than having to travel to hospital and having a long wait. We take off lumps and bumps, do steroid injections into painful joints, do tennis elbow and carpal tunnel injections, ganglions, trigger fingers and much else besides! It is the male GPs who specialise in this area so please book in with one of them to discuss your needs.
FAMILY PLANNING
All the doctors are trained in family planning and offer advice and treatment as part of normal surgeries. Additionally, some doctors fit coils and the Implanon contraceptive. If you are on the contraceptive pill, there are checks that are needed every year for safety. We will advise if your annual review is due and ask that you see the nurse for this please, rather than a GP.
CERVICAL SMEARS
We strongly recommend that all women should have regular smears from the age of 25, unless they have been otherwise advised by medical staff. An appointment can be made with the Practice Nurse.
DIABETIC CLINICS
Our nurses are skilled at the routine checks necessary for people with diabetes. You will normally be sent blood forms first and then an appointment with the nurse. Our nurse practitioner, Chris Armitage, has extra skills in diabetes especially regarding insulin treatments.
TRAVEL CLINIC
Going abroad? Think you might need vaccinations or travel advice? Fill in one of our travel questionnaires at reception and make an appointment or telephone appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your needs. Please discuss this well in advance of your trip (2-3 months).
ANNUAL FLU PREVENTION CLINICS
From October to December every year we run Flu vaccination sessions for the over-65s and those with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart disease – please make enquiries as the time draws near. We recommend that over-65s should also have a Pneumovax vaccination.
ASTHMA CLINICS

MATERNITY MEDICAL SERVICES
The midwives take care of our pregnant ladies and are very experienced in all matters maternal! If you are having problems in pregnancy then please book in and take some advice from a midwife. They also see newly pregnant ladies to go through all the many questions you will have - please ask for an appointment at reception.
RHEUMATOLOGY DRUG MONITORING
For those patients on DMARD's, we offer the convenience of having your regular blood tests done at the surgery rather than at hospital. This is a nurse run clinic.

BEEP SCHEME
This is an "exercise on prescription" scheme that is run in the surgery. Certain medical conditions (e.g overweight, heart problems) will qualify you for a consultation with a health trainer and free or reduced prices to local gyms / swimming baths / sports clubs. Please ask the nurses about the scheme and they can refer you if you qualify.
