When We Are Closed

When the surgery is closed on evenings and weekends we recommend telephoning 111. If the 111 advisor is unable to sort out the problem they will put you through to the out of hours Nottingham Emergency Medical Service (NEMS). This is an organisation staffed by local doctors and nurses who can deal with emergencies either by telephone advice or if an examination is required by inviting you to visit the medical centre at Platform One on Station Street in Nottingham. A free transport service can be arranged to pick you up and bring you to the medical centre if needed.

For those who are housebound and genuinely unable to travel a home visit by a doctor can be arranged.

NHS Urgent Care Centre

The NHS Urgent Care Centre is available at Seaton House, London Road, Nottingham NG2 4LA (next to the BBC Nottingham building).

The centre will offer assessment and treatment for health conditions that are urgent but non-life threatening such as:

- Minor burns and scalds

- Minor head injury with no loss of consciousness

- Skin infections and animal bites

- Suspected broken bones, sprains and strains (X-ray is available on -site)

- Eye infections and minor eye injuries

No appointment is needed; just drop in between 7am and 9pm 365 days a year.

Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pain, symptoms of stroke and sudden shortness of breath constitute an emergency. In you are uncertain whether or not you should go to A&E please ring the surgery or 111 first and we can advise you how to access services in the most appropriate way.
