We are delighted to announce that Holderness Health has been chosen as the name for the new practice from 1 October 2018. This new practice will now be made up of Church View Surgery, South Holderness Medical Practice and ourselves as Eastgate Medical Group in Hornsea have decided not to go ahead with the planned merger.
We three practices currently share responsibility for the care of 36,000 patients in the Holderness area and by joining together we hope to achieve greater benefits for both our patients and staff.
These benefits include:
- having a stronger and louder voice to represent the needs and concerns of our patients,
- attracting new GPs and nurses into the area,
- providing greater opportunities for career development for our existing staff, and
- developing our growing reputation as a centre of excellence for training and research
By joining together we believe that we will build a more resilient practice that can better look after the needs of Holderness Health patients for many years to come.
The views of our patients are important to us. If you have any questions or comments then please do let us know.

As of April 2016 every patient in the country had to be assigned a GP who is accountable for their care.
Patients whose accountable GP was Dr Hajjawi have been allocated to Dr Metcalfe. Dr Metcalfe became a Partner with Hedon Group Practice on 1 July 2016.
You are still entitled to see any GP, particularly when a different GP may have a sooner or more conven-ient appointment for your needs. You may also be required to see or speak to alternative GPs in urgent situations, or if a home visit is required

The GP Partners would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

We are experiencing a significantly increased demand for our Emergency Surgery. This means that patients are waiting longer than we would like.
Have you considered whether the Pharmacist or phoning 111 (NHS advice line) could help you instead? Most viral illness including coughs, colds, earache, sore throat, eye infections, vomiting and diarrhoea only need simple remedies from the chemist until they settle naturally. When you go to the chemist please ask to speak to the pharmacist.
If the doctor feels your problem isn’t urgent and can wait until the next available appointment, they may ask you to re-book. This is to ensure patients who are acutely unwell are not kept waiting longer than necessary. Please bear in mind this surgery is for emergencies only and is not simply a ‘sit and wait’ service for ongoing problems. Your help is appreciated.
Did you know NHS Choices provides a wealth of information to help you manage your health and ailments? Please go to www.nhs.uk for more information.
This vaccination helps to prevent the severe forms of pneumococcal disease, which is the term used to describe a range of illnesses such as pneumonia, septicaemia (blood poisoning) and meningitis (inflammation around the brain). This is not the same as the influenza vaccine (flu jab) but it can help to prevent some of the dangerous complications that can arise from all strains of flu.
The pneumococcal vaccination is only given once unless you go on to develop a serious condition; if you think you have had this injection before, please let us know and do not come for another one.
If you are 65 years old or over between 1st April 2015 and 31st March 2016 and have not had a Pneumococcal vaccination previously, reception will call you to book an appointment.
