Latest CQC Inspection Report Now Published 15th February 2018 - Report is on the inspection held in November 2017
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspected our practice in November 2017 as part of its routine inspections of all GP practices. The inspectors found that we provide a responsive service to our patient needs and also a caring service. We are pleased that the CQC’s report acknowledges the positive feedback we have received from patients about kindness, dignity, respect and compassion and patients’ involvement about decisions in their care and treatment.
However, they also identified areas where we need to improve, including:
Safety - relating to equipment, recruitment and medicines
Effectiveness - relating to record keeping, patient outcomes and best practice
Responding to patients’ needs – relating to needing a population review and to the complaints process
Leadership – relating to business planning, monitoring and oversight.
This means we have been rated as ‘inadequate’.
However, we would like to reassure our patients that we are working very hard to meet the CQC’s recommendations to address the issues they have raised.
In partnership with Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group we have developed an action plan to drive forward the required improvements. Much of this is already complete. For example, all electrical equipment has been tested, emergency medicines are in place, and all staff have undergone safeguarding (DBS) checks. We have updated our policies and procedures including our significant events and complaints procedure which we have published.
We would like to thank our patients for their loyalty and support and assure them that we are committed to making these improvements so we can continue to offer a safe and caring service to local people.
Any patients who have queries or concerns can contact the surgery on 0115 841 2022 and ask to speak to the Practice Manager, Yvonne Walters.

A message from Dr Mark Stevens
“Our patients are always our first priority and we always seek to deliver the highest quality of service to them. As a practice we recognise the areas of weakness identified in the report and have already taken steps to change many of the problems, which the inspectors found when they visited in November.
Since then we have overhauled our significant events and complaints policies, how we code and summarise our patient notes, as well as appointed a dedicated full time practice manager in order to focus on safeguarding, service improvement and maintain higher standards of leadership and team development.
Our staff are all committed to their continued development which in turn will ensure we provide robust and safe services for our patients.
It is disappointing that inspectors did not find evidence of the improvement that were seeking last year but we are confident that we will be able to demonstrate clear improvement when we are next inspected.
It is, however, extremely heartening to read that local patients feel that they are treated with compassion, dignity and respect whenever they visit our surgery. All of the patients spoken to as part of the inspection said that they valued the personal care and support they received from our team. Since the inspection we continue to receive positive feedback through the Friends and Family Test, with patients recommending our services to those closest to them.
We would like to thank our patients for their loyalty and support and assure them that we are committed to making these improvements so we can continue to offer a caring service to local people.”
