* nurse and/or HCA appointments are available from 7.30am on these days

We offer appointments with a doctor, nurse, healthcare assistant, pharmacist and a physiotherapist, Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend appointments are available to patients, however these will be at an Extended Hours Hub. The nearest Hub is at Fairlawns Medical Centre on Middlewood Road. To find out more, speak to a member of staff at the Surgery.

Appointments were available to book online, however this has been temporarily suspended during the covid outbreak. We hope to be able to open up the online booking soon. You will need a username and password to access the facility which can be obtained in person from reception. The link to online booking is at the top of this page.

If you think that your problem will take longer than the routine 10 minutes with a doctor to discuss, or you have several unrelated problems, please let the receptionist know so that a longer appointment may be made. Try to see the same doctor to follow-up on a particular problem.

Always remember to cancel an unwanted appointment as it may be needed by another patient.

Choice of Doctor

You will be registered with the practice and you are free to consult any doctor in the practice, although you may need to book some time in advance to see a specific doctor at a time convenient to you. However, as a general rule, we would encourage you to get to know and see one doctor, especially if you have an ongoing medical condition or need a follow-up of some tests or a referral which might have been instigated by a particular doctor.

Telephone or Face to Face Consultations

We are able to offer telephone consultations as well as face to face consultations. When you book an appointment with a GP the receptionist will ask you which you prefer. However please note, if you are phoning about an urgent issue and are put on the list for the on call GP then you will receive a phone call from the GP. The on call GP will decide if they need to invite you in for an examination, if so, they will then arrange this with you.

The doctors have asked receptionists to request information from patients about the reason for the consultation request. Please be assured the information that you give to receptionists is treated in full confidence.

Chaperone Policy

There may be times when you would feel more comfortable with a chaperone in the room during your consultation with the doctor. If this is the case please do not hesitate to ask, your doctor will be happy to arrange this immediately.

The chaperone will be a member of the reception team and will have been trained to be a chaperone.

Cancelling Appointments

Please arrive in good time and book in at reception. If you cannot attend for your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible in order that your appointment can be offered to another patient. On occasions surgeries can run late because earlier consultations have taken longer than normal or your doctor has been called out to an emergency. We will offer an explanation when this happens and ask for your understanding and patience at such times.
