Appointments

To make an appointment by telephone please call 0114 2245878 or visit reception. A number of GP appointments are bookable in advance but most are released daily at 08:00.

We offer morning, afternoon and evening surgeries. Where possible we will offer you a choice of telephone or face to face appointment.

All consultations with GPs and Nurse Practitioners are of 10 minute duration. If you wish to discuss more than one issue, you may be asked to book another appointment.

Appointments with the Practice Nurse or other specialist services are bookable further in advance. Appointment duration with our Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistant varies according to the appointment type.

Patients have a right to express a preference of clinician. Where possible we will accommodate this request.

Please note that we are not licensed to treat dental problems (including providing antibiotics for dental problems). If you have a dental problem you must visit a dentist. Patients without a dentist or who require emergency dental treatment should call NHS 111.

Urgent Appointments

  • If you require an URGENT appointment you will need to telephone the surgery between 8:00am-9:30am to talk to our urgent care team.
  • The receptionist will take your details as well as a brief description of the problem.
  • The urgent care team will then call you back and offer you advice over the telephone or an urgent appointment for that day if needed.

Routine Appointments

Each member of staff has a limited number of appointments available that can be booked in advance both over the phone and in person. These are for problems which don't need to be seen on the day urgently but require an appointment.

Telephone Appointments

We have increased our number of telephone appointments, if you wish to discuss a matter over the telephone with a GP, for example test results.  Please note these appointments will be booked in advance and not on the day.

Text Reminder Service

We send automatic appointment reminders to all of our patients with recorded mobile numbers in a text message. We may also text you from time to time if we are unable to get in contact with you or to inform you that you are due for a review or eligible for a vaccination.

If you DO NOT wish to receive text messages please inform a member of staff.

Do you have difficulty hearing/understanding English?

For patients who do not have English as their first language, the practice is able to offer translation services for appointments. Please note we need to be informed before your appointment in order to arrange this. We can also book interpreters for sign language. A hearing loop installed at the practice.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. You can now cancel your appointments via text. Follow the instructions in your reminder text for information on how to do this.

Extended Access

Appointments outside of normal hours are now available for patients at the Darnall Hub. This includes weekday evenings (6.30pm-9.30pm) and Saturdays (9.00am - 12noon). Patients can book an appointment, by contacting reception.
