Patient Surveys, Representative Groups and the DES Requirements
Surveys
The patient survey facility has been designed to help GP Practices
meet the requirements outlined in the Directed Enhanced Services
guidelines for this year. The purpose of the Patient Participation DES is to ensure
that patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services
provided and, over time, commissioned by their practice. It aims to encourage and
reward practices for routinely asking for and acting on the views of their patients.
Included with your website is the suite of tools knowns as My Surgery Office and
included in this is the simplest most effective way of creating a survey you will
ever see. Once you have created your survey, adding it to your website is the easiest
thing in the world.
Survey Results
Results are displayed in a straightforward format in My Surgery Office and can be
published directly on to your website.
Use the form that we supply you with your website to recruit your representative
patient group. When you accept each patient into the group their details are automatically
added into My Surgery Office where you can generate a report on the ethnicity, age,
gender and attendance numbers to show your group truly is representative. You can
easily email everyone from here too, as well as send them all a survey if you like!
Although the DES only applies in England and Wales, practices in Scotland and Northern
Ireland can of course still use it to investigate how their services are perceived
by their patients.
We are confident that you will not find an easier way to create surveys. There are
no special tools to master - you simply type your survey out the way you want it
to appear and save it to My Surgery Office.
