Hello from all the team here at High Mill Medical Practice. We thought it would be helpful to keep you up to date with how the practice is trying to manage the unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in, and balance the demands of Covid-19 with the everyday health needs of our patients.
Firstly we would like to thank you for the support you have shown us during these challenging times. We have had to make changes to the way we work, and we are grateful for your understanding as we adapt to the new way of doing things.
We appreciate this year has been very difficult for many people. The surgery has been open throughout and we are here to help you if you have a problem. If you need care from the practice, your first contact with us will be by telephone. Many issues can be managed fully by phone, but speaking to you also allows us to decide whether further examination is needed, either face-to-face at the surgery, or by video consultation. This system allows us to keep you safe by reducing the number of patients in our waiting rooms, and limiting the possibility of someone with Covid symptoms attending the surgery.
If you do have to attend the surgery please follow the signage around the building and the instructions of staff. Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance and on exit, and very few people will be in the waiting room at any one time.
All of the measures we are taking are aimed at protecting our patients and our team and are under constant review.
Liz and Wendy our nurses are reviewing their patients with chronic disease who have an essential or urgent health care need. As these patients are identified they will be contacted by our admin team to book them in for a telephone review of their health needs and to assess any home recordings such as blood pressure, blood glucose levels or peak flow measurements.
The nurses are also offering face to face appointments if necessary after the initial phone consultation. They will advise you to attend for your annual chronic disease bloods if these are deemed essential or urgent. We know that our patients with chronic disease are skilled at managing their own health conditions, and we would encourage you to continue to do this.
Please be assured if you come to the practice to see any of our staff, we have put measures in place to make this safe for you. Things may look and feel different, but our team will always try to provide the highest level of care, despite the constraints we find ourselves under.
