From the 1st April 2015 practices are contractually required to allocate all patients, including children a named accountable GP. This GP is responsible for the patient’s overall care at the practice.
At Portsdown Group Practice, your named GP is usually determined by the surgery you are registered with. This often means that you may not necessarily see your named GP, as their assigned role in your care is predominantly administrative. Having a named accountable GP does not prevent you from seeing a doctor of your choice at the practice and in the event that you require an emergency appointment, it will be with any of the doctors who have an available appointment.
If you would like confirmation on your named accountable GP, please contact your local Portsdown Surgery to request the information.
