Travel Immunisations

We offer nurse appointments slots for travel immunisations. Please allow sufficient time to get these organised before your trip as appointments may not be available at short notice. Please note that we are not a Yellow Fever centre and cannot administer this vaccination.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.  There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:

What travel vaccines will I need?

What travel vaccines have I had?

If you are unsure what travel vaccines you have had, please ask our reception staff to print off your travel immunisations record for you to collect.

 

Are my vaccines up to date?

Travel vaccines are usually only valid for a certain length of time.  Please see below for how long your vaccine is valid.  After this  time has elapsed, you will require a booster:

(Typhoid vaccine availability is restricted and may not be available from month to month due to manufacturing problems)

 

Do I pay for these?

 

No

 

Do you prescribe malaria tablets (malarone/doxycycline or mefloquine)?

 

Malaria tablets are prescribed privately.  We do not charge for these private prescriptions.  However, you will be charged a fee by the chemist for the medication.

 

What travel vaccines are NOT available at the Vale?

 

The practice does NOT offer the following travel vaccinations:

 

Yellow Fever

Japanese encephalitis

Rabies

Meningitis ACWY
