Clinics & Services

The Practice is contracted with NHS Tayside to provide the following:

Essential services within core hours: appropriate examination, investigation, management and on-going treatment for registered patients and temporary residents, suffering from acute illness, chronic disease or terminal illness and also immediately necessary treatment of any person requesting such, owing to an accident or emergency occurring within the practice area.

The following additional services: cervical screening, contraceptive services, vaccinations and immunisations, cryotherapy, child health surveillance services.

The following enhanced services: childhood vaccinations and immunisations, near patient testing, flu and pneumococcal immunisation (over 65 years and under 65 years and at risk), intra partum care (neonatal checks), minor surgery and steroid joint injections.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

• Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
• Insurance claim forms
• Letters for taking medication abroad
• Private sick notes
• Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Payment for completion of these examinations and forms will be expected in advance. Please note that some of these examinations require a longer appointment and if you tell the receptionist the purpose of the examination, she can ensure you have an appropriate appointment with the doctor of your choice.

Forms 

If you are handing in forms for the doctor to complete, please ensure that you have filled in the appropriate details e.g. name, address, date of absence/illness, before handing the form into Reception. Please take care not to complete any part of the form(s) intended for the doctor. Some forms such as DLA and Attendance Allowance forms do not attract a fee, but you will be charged for the completion of private/insurance forms and certificates. When you hand in the form, our practice secretary will contact you to advise whether a payment for completing the form is required.  Forms will not be completed until payment has been received and we would encourage patients to pay by BACS.  Our practice secretary will provide you with the payment details at the time of contacting you.   All requests for private forms or medical reports require 28 days to process.  If you require the form or report urgently, you should discuss this with our practice secretary.  Please note, the completion of urgent forms or reports will incur an additional charge due to the additional work required by a GP to complete the work in a short time frame.

Travel Clinic

From 01/04/2022, Grove Health Centre will no longer provide a travel clinic.  NHS Tayside will provide all travel advice / vaccinations (if required).  Patients requiring travel advice should click HERE to be taken to the Fit for Travel website which details whether you require vaccinations for any countries you are visiting.  If you determine you do require vaccinated, you should either contact NHS Tayside by emailing:

All Other Vaccinations

From 20/04/2022, Grove Health Centre will no longer provide any vaccinations.  Patients who believe they require a vaccination such as a Shingles vaccination, Pneumococcal vaccination or any other vaccination (excluding travel vaccines) should contact NHS Tayside to discuss further.  Patients can either email NHS Tayside by emailing:

Spirometry Questionnaire

If you have arranged an appointment to attend the practice for spirometry, we kindly ask that you review the questions below 24 hours before your appointment time.  If you answered YES to any of the questions, we will be unable to perform spirometry and kindly ask you to contact the practice on 01382 778881 to rearrange your appointment for 8 weeks time.  This is to ensure your spirometry results are accurately obtained during the procedure whilst keeping our staff and patients safe.

Questions:

Do you, or any member of your household/family, have a confirmed diagnosis of Covid19 diagnosed in the last 14 days?

Do you, or any member of you household/family, have suspected Covid-19 and are awaiting a Covid-19 test result?

Have you had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 or been in isolation with a suspected case in the last 10 days?

Do you have any of the following symptoms?

• A high temperature or fever?
• A new continuous cough?
• A loss or alteration to your taste or smell?

Do you have any new or worsening respiratory symptoms not already mentioned above which may suggest you have a respiratory virus?

Have you had a laboratory test which has confirmed a respiratory virus in the last 14 days such as influenza (flu)?

We are pleased to announce that the practice now offers a coil fitting / check / removal service to our patient population.  This enables patients to be seen closer to home.  Female patients wishing to discuss the fitting of a coil should contact the practice on 01382 778881 and request a routine appointment with Dr Ruthven.

Patients requiring new batteries for hearing aids or are finding challenges with their hearing aid(s) can use any of the drop in services detailed below.  Alternatively, they can contact Kings Cross Hospital Hearing Aid Department (01382 660111 and request hearing aid department at Kings Cross Hospital) for further advice and assistance.

Do you have a muscle, back or joint problem?  If so, seeing a Physiotherapist first instead of your GP could be right for you!

The First Contact Physiotherapy team will assess your condition, give expert advice and, if appropriate, refer you for further investigations, treatment or specialist assessment.
