St Margaret's Hospice
St. Margaret’s Hospice has been at the heart of Somerset’s community for over 37 years, delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. Through medical expertise, nursing skills and specialist support services, St. Margaret’s Hospice provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to our patients and their loved ones. With two hospice sites; one in Yeovil and one in Taunton, as well as five community based teams caring for patients in their own homes, we continually strive to reach everyone in the community that needs our care, often during their precious last days.
In Taunton and Yeovil, our Sunflower Centres provide support for patients who are well enough to live at home but would like to take advantage of the specialist support that St. Margaret’s can offer during the day. St. Margaret’s has a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and complementary therapists who aim to improve patients’ and carers’ quality of life. The team provide a range of services to support those with complex needs. They have the expertise to support people with breathlessness, pain management concerns, anxiety, fatigue, and more. St. Margaret’s Hospice is a charity and reliant on the support of the Somerset community to continue to provide their services free of charge and are dedicated to making each day count for all patients and their families.

From October to December each year we offer free influenza immunisations to:
- people over 65 years of age
- people who have certain long term medical conditions that put them at additional risk
- pregnant women
There will be publicity at the time and it is helpful if you can make your appointment early. You will have better protection and we can be more certain of meeting demand.
A national programme to immunise children by nasal spray is being introduced over a number of years.
These are offered to all patients over 65 at the same time as the flu vaccination. A single injection provides about 10 years protection for most people.
New Patient Health Checks
We offer all new patients a simple health check with the practice nurse or health care assistant if they are not on any regular medication. If you are taking regular medication you will need to see the doctor for a new patient check before we can issue any repeat medication. A sample of urine should be brought to any new patient appointment and sample bottles are available from the surgery.
Hearing Aid Batteries
You can now pick up hearing aid batteries from reception any time 8.00-6.30 weekdays. Please bring your record book. You don’t need to be a patient of this practice to collect batteries but you must bring your record book.
