FAMILY PLANNING CARE
The Doctors and practice nurse offer family planning advice which is dealt with in the course of normal surgery. IUCDs coils can be fitted at the surgery by appointment. If you are a teenager we are here to help. If you have any issues that you would like to discuss confidentially, you may approach any secretary, nurse or Doctor you feel comfortable with.
We share your ante-natal and post-natal care with the hospital of your choice. A Doctor, Midwife and Health Visitor are here to help and give advice. The Midwife clinic is on Mondays and Wednesdays at the community clinic in Horden. The Midwife will contact you at home to arrange an appointment.
CHILD HEALTH SERVICES
Second and fourth Tuesdays in the month, 1.30pm-3.00pm for a baby check and weigh-in. Child immunisation will be by appointment.
We consider your Childs health extremely important and we have a major interest in preventive care. The best advice is always available. There is a programme of immunisation and regular examination for under fives. You will receive appointments to bring your child to surgery.
Certain surgical procedures can be performed by the Doctors, to save unnecessary hospital visits. These are discussed during surgery and an appointment arranged.
PRIVATE MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
These include examinations for insurance purposes, HGV/PSV licences and to assess fitness for certain pursuits, such as driving, etc. These are by appointment only after 5pm and the BMA recommended fee will be charged for the service provided.
IMMUNISATIONS - INFLUENZA
Flu jabs are available in the autumn (usually starting October) for those patients for whom influenza is particular risk. This includes anyone over the age of 65, diabetics, anyone with heart or chest problems, as well as other groups. Ask the Doctor/Practice Nurse/Receptionist for more information.
We have one counsellor offering confidential (in-house) service. Referral is through the GP/Nurse
We invite patients with Asthma to make an annual appointment with our Practice Nurse. Nurse Ferris can help with any concerns you may have regarding your condition, including breathing problems, medication and inhaler technique, as well as health education for children and their parents.

Coronary Heart Disease Clinic
Patients with known heart disease are invited to make an annual appointment with our Specialist Nurse. Sister Hardy will check that everything is in place to help you to understand your illness, promote your recovery, review your medication, address any concerns you may have about your symptoms, and help you to improve your quality of life.
Patients with diabetes are invited to the clinic annually to ensure that good health and diabetic care are maintained. However, if you have any concerns about your diabetes and your review is not due, simply make an appointment to be seen during clinic times with our Specialist Nurse.
Patients with a history of raised blood pressure, who are taking regular medication to control this, will be invited to have a blood pressure review carried out at least once every 9 months. This is necessary to ensure the level of medication being taken is working to keep your blood pressure under control.
Any patient over the age of 45 who has not had a blood pressure check carried out in the last five years is encouraged to make an appointment for this with one of our Health Care Assistants.
Joint Injection Clinic
An intra-articular joint injection clinic is offered to patients who suffer from arthritis and other associated complaints. Assessment by one of the Doctors must be carried out prior to referral to Dr Kalia for this service.
Respiratory Disease Clinic
We invite patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to an annual review. At this review you may be invited to have a breath test carried out to check how well your lungs are working. You will also be given the opportunity to check your inhaler technique to ensure you are receiving maximum benefit from your medication.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
Patients who currently smoke and need help and support to stop are invited to self-refer to this service. The Smoking Cessation clinic is nurse-led. Nicotine Replacement therapy is prescribed via vouchers as an aid to support your own will power. Removal of lumps, bumps and moles, this service is provided by Dr Barnsley.
Weight Management Clinic
The Weight Management clinic is led by the nursing team. Unlike other weight control clinics, ours is free of charge! You will need to have a willingness to lose weight and sign up to a contract with the clinic to follow an agreed plan. We can only help those who want to help themselves.
